Mandylights worked with long-time client Rizer to help transform Sydney’s historic Wynyard Tunnels into **The Dragon’s Lair**, an immersive launch experience for HBO’s *House of the Dragon*.
Set deep beneath the city, the activation invited guests to descend into a smoke-filled underworld inspired by the tunnels, chambers and dragon pits of Westeros. Mandylights delivered the lighting, atmospherics and bespoke effects design, creating a theatrical layer of heat, shadow and tension across Rizer’s scenic environment.
Our scope included the design of custom handheld flame torches, searing fog jets, low-lying smoke, concealed jump-scare moments and a dramatic lighting treatment that shifted the space from dark, cinematic unease to explosive bursts of fire and dragon energy. Designed for both intimate guest interaction and high-impact photography, the result was a hyper-realistic, highly atmospheric walkthrough that helped bring the mythology of *House of the Dragon* to life beneath Sydney.
The launch attracted strong media attention, with coverage describing the experience as a transformation of Wynyard’s historic tunnels into Westeros and a “massive interactive activation” for fans of the HBO series.
